2014 - Motivator - Like A Storm

Retired to Stud

Stormy was the first horse to run in the FB Racing Club colours and what a special mare she was. She was purchased to join our band of broodmares in January 2021 but we decided to send her back to Closutton before the plan of covering her later in the year.

Having already won 2 grade 3's before we purchased her we hoped she would be more than capable of picking up some prize money which may have gone towards the cost of a nice stallion.

She went on to win a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse and then collected the Grade 1 Mares Champion Hurdle at Punchestown, the richest race for mares in National Hunt Racing. The decision to stay in training for another season was a wise one from her trainer as she went on to take the Grade 2 Relkeel hurdle at Cheltenham on New Years Day before finishing 4th at the festival in the mares hurdle where the ground was just too quick for her on the first day.

She was then covered by top stallion Blue Bresil before having her last run at Punchestown and trying to defend her Mares Champion Hurdle Crown. She ran right up to her brilliant best but was run down in the shadows of the post by Cheltenham scorer Maries Rock with former Champion Hurdle winner and current Aintree Hurdle Winner Epatante behind in 3rd.

It was a fantastic 16 months she gave us on the track and one that we will we struggle to repeat. She is so special to us all at Future Bloodstock and we can't wait to see what her progeny can achieve. But regardless of anything else she will always have a special place in our hearts and she will be given the best treatment for the rest of her days.
